The PAWS Shelter of Central Texas and Humane Society is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing care and love to homeless, abandoned, and abused animals in Central Texas. The shelter is located in Kyle, Texas, 500 FM East 150.
PAWS was founded in 1986 and funded by the McCoy family; Miriam McCoy was a huge animal advocate. The McCoy’s built the facility in Kyle in 1988. The shelter was transformed into a no-kill facility in 2006, and its sole purpose is to provide medical attention, care, and love for however long it takes for the PAWS team to find companion animals a loving home.

Melody Hilburn, the executive director at PAWS Shelter and Humane Society, has been apart of the organization for over 13 years. She explains why she decided to become apart of the organization and how she began her journey with PAWS.
In addition, Hilburn discusses how people can become involved with PAWS Shelter, programs implemented by the organization and upcoming events.
PAWS Shelter of Central Texas plans to expand their facilities in the near future to the Dripping Springs community. The shelter has raised over $1 million, and 39 acres of land was donated to the organization in order to build a second facility.
